Paul LACHENAL (1884-1955)

Born in Geneva in 1884, Paul LACHENAL (1884-1955) was a graduate of the University of Geneva Law School (lic. iur. 1906). After his legal traineeship in his father's law firm, he was appointed in 1908 as Deputy Attorney General, a position that he held for three years.

In 1912, he became a partner of the firm, which was then located at Rue du Rhône. He devoted much of his professional career to litigation and arbitration.

He also held different offices, such as chairman of the Geneva Bar Association, chairman of the Swiss Bar Association and vice-president of the International Union of Lawyers.

Paul Lachenal was also a substitute judge before the Geneva courts from 1919 to 1930. In 1927, the Council of the League of Nations appointed him chairman of the German-Poland Arbitration Court.
