Born in Geneva in 1884, Paul LACHENAL (1884-1955) was a graduate of the University of Geneva Law School (lic. iur. 1906). After his legal traineeship in his father's law firm, he was appointed in 1908 as Deputy Attorney General, a position that he held for three years. In 1912, he became a partner of the firm, which was then located at Rue du Rhône. He devoted much of his professional career to litigation and arbitration. |

He also held different offices, such as chairman of the Geneva Bar Association, chairman of the Swiss Bar Association and vice-president of the International Union of Lawyers. Paul Lachenal was also a substitute judge before the Geneva courts from 1919 to 1930. In 1927, the Council of the League of Nations appointed him chairman of the German-Poland Arbitration Court. |
