Nicolas Piérard was born in 1957 in Geneva, Switzerland. He is a graduate of the University of Geneva Law School (lic. iur, 1979) and was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1980. He worked as a foreign Associate with Windels Marx Lane & Mittendorf , LLP, in New York (1983) and with Denton Wilde Sapte in London (1984). In 1985, he joined Borel & Barbey as an associate and has been a partner of the firm since 1990. Nicolas Piérard is a member of the International Litigation Committee of the International Bar Association and co-chairman for Switzerland of the International Law and Practice Section of the New York State Bar Association. He is also a member of the Swiss Society of Jurists, the Swiss Arbitration Association, the Swiss Lawyers Federation and the Chamber of National and International Arbitration of Milan (Italy). Nicolas Piérard focuses his practice on Commercial and Banking Litigation, International judicial assistance in criminal matters, Commercial and Business Law, Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions (private equity, investments, public takeovers, financing arrangements in cross-border acquisitions and shareholders' agreements) as well as Art Law. He acts as arbitrator or counsel to parties in arbitration proceedings under the rules of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Swiss Chambers of Commerce or other institutions and contributes regularly to national and international publications. |
