Michel Barbey was born in 1969, in Oslo, Norway. He is a graduate of the University of Neuchatel Law School (lic. iur, 1994) and of Columbia University School of Law, New York (LL.M. with honours ("Harlan Fiske Stone scholar", 1998). Michel Barbey was admitted to the bar in Switzerland in 1994 and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1999. He worked as a trainee with Merrill Lynch, Law and Compliance Department, London (1997) and as a Foreign Intern with law firm Sullivan & Cromwell, New York (1998-1999). Michel Barbey joined Borel & Barbey in Geneva as an associate in 1999. He has been a partner of the firm since 2008.

Michel Barbey is a member of the Swiss Lawyers Federation and the Geneva Bar Association.

Michel Barbey focuses his practice on Commercial and Corporate Law and Banking and Finance Law.
